Neuroscience is the interdisciplinary scientific study of the central and peripheral nervous systems in an effort to understand the biological basis of behavior, thinking, emotion, memory, and perception.
- Credit Hour Requirements: A minimum of 18 credit hours as described below.
- Grade Requirements: A grade of “C” or better in courses used toward the Minor (a grade of “C-” is not acceptable). Two courses with the “NEUR” prefix must be completed. Courses cannot count for both your major and the Neuroscience minor if they are required for your major (the 18 credits for the Neuroscience minor must be unique with the exception of ZOOL 3300 - Genetics).

Requirements
To complete the Neuroscience Minor, the student must complete a minimum of 18 credit hours as follows: a) Introduction to Neuroscience (NEUR 2950 ), b) one course each from the three content areas (Cognitive/Behavioral, Cellular/Molecular, and Clinical/Medical), c) 6 credits of electives, and d) one science lab course. Students are required to complete at least 2 NEUR-prefix courses (one is NEUR 2950 ).
With approval of the Neuroscience Program Director and the applicable Department Chair, students may apply credits from one of the required courses of either Area 3 or Area 5 towards both their minor and major to offset the number of prerequisites necessary for courses in these areas. Only one course total may be applied to the minor and major, and only after the appropriate approvals have been received.
